WHAT MAKES MERLOT SO SPECIAL:

Merlot is the first girl born of Katrina’s pair of final kittens and she is cheeky.

She looks just like Katrina in face, body profile, fur colour and quality. She is super independent, inquisitive, bold and super affectionate.

Merlot loves to place one paw on my slippers while she tries some new mischief.

She is super clean, always uses the litter tray and has perfect litter etiquette. Merlot is such a fast runner and she moves so quickly around the house that you need to check before you step or move your chair.

She is much bigger than her sister which is unsurprising as she loves to tuck into her dry Royal Canin kibble or any wet food. She is very kind to her little sister and will always take time to groom her or cuddle her when they lie together.

Merlot is independent and loves to sleep on her own, or to jump up to fall asleep on your lap.

MERLOT – NOW FIG – IS ENJOYING LIFE IN HER NEW HOME

Her owner continues her story:

3 months old – arrival day + 4:

Merlot (now Fig) is the most wonderful kitten – a bundle of adventure, mischievous climbing, affection, energy, wonderfully chatty and just an all round joy with the deepest purr :-).

Coming home she was good as gold, despite a brief rather loud cry, she fell asleep in the car and when we got back she was straight out tail up and checking out her new space. She figured out everything within the first hour – litter tray, best sleeping spot and where her all important mouse was, which she slept with all night tucked up on the bed!

Now four days in she’s settled in perfectly and I can’t imagine life without her. A confident little adventurous kitten, she managed to scale the tall cat tree within her first evening here, much quicker than we expected her to :-), and has taken to the stairs like an absolute pro, developing a very quick way to get down (let the back legs go) when breakfast is ready!

Her favourite sleeping spot is on top of the wardrobe where she can hang her head over the side and keep an eye on everyone, as she should – but that doesn’t stop her coming down every few hours for cuddles  (by burrowing under the duvet and tucking up close to you, but shh don’t tell anyone!).

Fig’s had a busy few days with lots of visitors but has loved every new toy she has had to play with and every new lap she’s got to sit and zonk out on – much needed after busy days of mousing!

She’s an absolute credit to Mum and Dad and all the work that Gaynor and Michael put into their kittens. I can’t wait to see her continue to develop and grow, and help her in her mischief!”

4 months old – one month on:

One whole month of Fig – cannot believe how quickly it’s gone! She’s settled in so well, always knew she would do from all the love and care Michael and Gaynor give their cat family.

It’s so lovely having such a young cat again and seeing how she explores her new world. She loves to be with you and close to you, and will seek out cuddles, but also has her fierce independence which I love.

She came to me as the cleanest and most well mannered cat – great appetite, perfect litter tray etiquette and that has just continued over the last month. She’s full of affection and fun, so inquisitive and has what I call her little piglet sniffle when a new brilliant smell comes across her nose. She’s incredibly chatty and when I’ve been out at work – her little voice as she hears me at the door is the best welcome home! She still comes back to sit on your feet if she needs a little reassurance over something new or, as is more typical, if she’s about to create some sort of mischief! ( in the most adorable way of course and which I love!). She also still loves to sleep curled up on your feet although she is getting a bit too long to fit on one foot now, but doesn’t stop her from trying :-)!

Fur: In the last few days her adult coat has really started to show – beautifully thick and with the most wonderful depths of grey!

Just some of the things she’s mastered over the last four weeks:

Stairs: she can now go down the stairs using all four paws instead of letting her back legs go and sliding down.

Climbing: she is quite the little adventurer and much prefers to be up high- has completed the extra tall cat tree, loves getting up onto your shoulders to wander around the house and if she can/ is allowed to, to sleep there too!

She’s really settled into a nice little routine and has become an expert at being on her own for a few hours when I go into the office. Very good at amusing herself and sleeping of course 🙂

Still loves her mouse and carries it with her everywhere when she plays nothing quite kicks off the zoomies like her mouse!

Absolutely loves being centre of attention on working from home days. She’s an expert at Zoom calls and has perfect timing knowing when it’s her turn and jumps up appearing over my shoulders to join the debate!

Loves hide and seek aka finding the most awkward places to sleep, or her favourite spot, to sleep on you so there is no chance of moving, but we all love that!

She’s got an army or adoring fans (quite rightly) from friends, family to work colleagues and the postman who she meows at to from the front window every time he comes.

Thank you to Cosmo, Katrina, Michael and Gaynor for little Fig – I couldn’t imagine life without her, here’s to the many months to come!
